Visitors to the Episcopal Church Web site (www.episcopalchurch.org) – and attempts to hack into it -- have increased “exponentially” in the past few days, said Web producer Edward Cimafonte.
Since Thursday, visitor counts have increased potentially into the millions, highlighting the importance of maintaining an up-to-date national Web site, Cimafonte said. It is linked to from national and international sites, including BBC and CNN and “who knows how many others.”
While many people log on to check out the latest news from General Convention, others are trying to take down the site. “We get those every day,” Cimafonte said, but since convention began, the site’s firewall has stopped an increasing number of such attempts.
