OKLAHOMA: Deadline extended for bishop nominations

10/4/2006

[Diocese of Oklahoma]  The Bishop Profile/Search Committee of the Diocese of Oklahoma, in consultation with the diocesan Standing Committee, has extended the deadline for submitting nominations for its sixth bishop to Wednesday, November 1. "The decision was made after considering the impact of summer vacation schedules and the General Convention on the discernment process," a diocesan press release said.

The Profile/Search Committee will announce the proposed nominations on March 1, 2007, after which a period of two weeks will be set aside for nominees by petition.

The electing convention will take place on May 5, 2007, and the new diocesan bishop will be consecrated on Friday, September 14, 2007 in Oklahoma City.

The Rt. Rev. Robert M. Moody has led the diocese since his election in 1987.
