Bishop M. Thomas Shaw, SSJE, of the Diocese of Massachusetts will institute and induct the Rev. Anne Berry Bonnyman as 19th rector of Trinity Church in Boston at a celebration of Holy Eucharist on November 12, at 4 p.m.
Shaw will preach at the service, which is expected to draw more than 1,000 parishioners, local clergy of all faiths, and guests from throughout the Boston area. The service will be open to the public.
Bonnyman, Trinity's first female rector, assumed the duties of her position as leader of one of the largest Episcopal parishes in the country, on October 15. She oversees an annual operating budget in excess of $8 million, a staff of nearly 40, and a congregation of approximately 4,000 parishioners. She succeeded the Very Rev. Samuel T. Lloyd III, who left in early 2005 to become dean of the Washington National Cathedral.
Bonnyman came to Trinity Church, Boston, from Trinity Episcopal Parish, Wilmington, Delaware, where she was rector since 1995.
