Coming December 7, 2006…

WASHINGTON, D.C.: Mentor training at Cathedral College of Washington National Cathedral

Training for LifeCycles Companions and Journey in Faith Mentors and Diocesan Coordinators, will take place December 7-11 at the Cathedral College at the Washington National Cathedral.

This training program provides certification for both mentors and hose who will coach mentors-in-training. To apply for either role, call 800.941.2218 or go to http://www.leaderresources.org/. Cost is $600 which includes: tuition, room and meals.

The state of North Dakota will be honored December 10, at the 11 a.m. service at Washington National Cathedral. As part of its national ministry, Washington National Cathedral has for many years individually honored each state in the union.

During worship services, the government and people of that state are prayed for.

FORT WASHINGTON, Pennsylvania: Fine Arts concert at St. Thomas

A Fine Arts Concert, "Amahl & the Night Visitors" by Gian Carlo Menotti, will be held December 17, 4 p.m. at St. Thomas' Church, Whitemarsh. This family Christmas musical will feature the St. Thomas' Whitemarsh choir and soloists.

Sponsored by St. Thomas' Church, Whitemarsh Friends of Music and Arts, the event aims to extend the Church's reach by creating a vibrant venue in which members of the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania, and surrounding community, can enjoy a wide variety of music and arts.

NEW ORLEANS: Ecumenical leadership conference for young adults

Young Episcopalians will be among nearly 1,200 college and university students attending an ecumenical leadership conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, December 28, 2006 - January 1, 2007.
 
Meeting under the theme "Celebrate! At the River: Waters of Faith…Deltas of Change" at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside, participants will join with others to share their faith and to understand better their call as Jesus' followers in times of crisis, distress and injustice.

Coming December 8, 2006...

NEW YORK CITY: Machaut's Messe de Nostre Dame in concert

A faithful re-creation of the mass of 1363, Guillaume de Machaut's famous Messe de Nostre Dame, will be held at Church of the Resurrection, 119 East 74th Street, on December 8, at 7 p.m.

Professional singers will accompany the candlelight only celebration of the Latin mass of Machaut's time.

Members of Resurrection's choir will appear under the direction of David Enlow. A reception will follow


Coming December 10, 2006…

DENISON, Texas: Combined services of Lessons and Carols

The Episcopal churches in the Texoma (Texas/Oklahoma border) region will worship a combined Lessons and Carols on December 10, 5 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Denison, Texas.

The churches are: Holy Trinity (Bonham), St. John the Apostle (Pottsboro), St. Stephen's (Sherman), and St. Luke's (Denison) -- all from the Dallas Diocese -- and this year St. John's, Durant, OK (Diocese of Oklahoma) will participate. Last year, the financial offering went to Meals on Wheels.

The choirs, acolytes, lay readers and clergy from each parish all take part and members from each congregation will be in the pews.

Admission is free. Grace Cathedral is located at 1100 California St., at Taylor St. For more information call 415-749-6364.
