New stories on ERD website feature partners in Bangladesh, friends in Virginia

October 23, 2009 [Episcopal Relief and Development] Stories about the church in Bangladesh and children in Virginia raising funds to buy nets to stave off malaria-bearing mosquitos are the latest installments in the "Power of Partnerships"  and "Friends of Episcopal Relief and Development" online series.

The two series focus on Episcopal Relief and Development's global program partners and supporters, highlighting their essential contributions to the agency's disaster relief and sustainable development efforts worldwide.

This month's Power of Partnerships story features the Church of Bangladesh and its outreach arm, the Church of Bangladesh Social Development Program (CBSDP). The CBSDP supports the Thanarbaid Clinic, the only health service accessible to low-income residents in the impoverished Madhupur subdistrict. Innovative health outreach is resulting in safer births and healthier children, as well as fewer instances of waterborne disease.

A fourth-grade Sunday school class in Arlington, Virginia, discovered that chocolate chips can save lives. The newest Friends of Episcopal Relief and Development article describes how energetic kids at St. Mary's Episcopal Church held a cookie sale to benefit the NetsforLife® anti-malaria program partnership.
