Mission Center: Mission Leadership

Craig Loya, Chaplain

My love for campus ministry began while I was an undergraduate at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska.  My experience there of integrating the life of the spirit with the life of the intellect led me to seminary at Yale Divinity School, where I graduated in 2002.  After ordination, I served congregations in South Dakota and Massachusetts, before returning to campus ministry in the Diocese of Kansas. As Campus Missioner here, I serve as the chaplain to Kansas State University, and assist parishes around the diocese in building ministries with and for students.  I think campus ministry is one of the most important things the Church is doing, and I’m deeply grateful to be able to share with students their ongoing vocational discernment and faith formation. I am married to Melissa Tubbs Loya, and when I’m not working with students, I love to garden, play guitar, and walk with my dog.
