Guillen: "This Convention is a picture of the church of the future. Among the many ‘firsts,’ the Blue Book is printed in Spanish, and the use of different languages will be more prevalent. There will be the New Community Celebration Saturday night, highlighting the presence of the ‘new church’ that is multicultural, multiethnic, multilingual, celebrating the gifts that the new community brings to us all. Resolutions coming forward will make the church more flexible and open, allowing change to happen. For me, the Church can’t move forward fast enough."
Bishop: "We are a diverse diocese and our deputation represents that reality. Sometimes deputations are made up of people who can afford to go, take time off work and have an interest in these matters. We are doing better. As a deputation we are equal. We are very collaborative."
