Members of the Episcopal News Service, Episcopal life’s Convention Daily and electronic news teams bring decades of experience in writing, editing, photography, and film production to this convention.
The Episcopal News Service team will provide daily stories available on the Web site at www.episcopalchurch.org/ens/ Jim DeLa, communications officer for the Diocese of Southwest Florida, who will head the team, assisted by Jane Lantz of Minnesota, as copy editor. Other team members include David Skidmore, communications director in the Diocese of Chicago; Sarah Moore, communications director and development officer in the Diocese of Hawaii; Richelle Thompson, communications director in the Diocese of Southern Ohio; and the Rev. E.T. Malone Jr., communications director in the Diocese of North Carolina.
Giovanni Figueredo, a novice at the Society of St. John the Evangelist in Massachusetts, will edit, write, and translate stories in Spanish for both news service and the Convention Daily.
The Convention Daily will be edited by Bob Williams, communications director for the Diocese of Los Angeles and editor of the daily newspaper of the 1998 Lambeth Conference.
Staff of The Daily will include the Rev. Mary Frances Schjonberg and Sharon Sheridan, both in Newark diocese; Sally Vallongo of Ohio; Michelle Gabriel, a journalism student at Northwestern University, and Dick Snyder, of Nevada and a seminarian at Church Divinity School of the Pacific, photographer. Jerry Fargo, art director of Episcopal Life, will be in charge of production and design.
Nightly news broadcast
A 30-minute news and feature program will be broadcast on the closed channel of General Convention hotels each evening beginning at 9:30 p.m. Dan Webster of Utah and Sandy Moyles of Florida will conduct interviews; Todd Lubin and Michael Collins, both of New York, will be producer and production manager. The show’s anchor will be Dan England, director of communications.
