Airing for the first time yesterday, a nightly 30-minute newscast will continue to bring “General Convention News” to participants via Minneapolis hotel television channels and through streaming video on-line.
“We believe that this news program will help people keep up with the events at Convention and lead to greater clarity about the plans of the church for the next triennium,” said Dan England, national church director of communications and anchor for the program.
Produced by Todd Lubin of New York and featuring reports from priests Sandy Moyles of Florida and Dan Webster of Utah, the newscast has drawn praise from Presiding Bishop Frank Griswold: “Accurate communication is essential so that the General Convention and its work are understood, and the mission directions set in Minneapolis are carried forward by the church. I am therefore very pleased that, in addition to the Convention Daily and Episcopal News Service, with this General Convention we will have the benefit of a nightly news broadcast designed to be accurate, objective and authoritative.”
Production manager for the newscast is Michael Collins of New York.
