Nazi treatment of gays recalled by
Sara Rubin, Rochester, Minn.
The current exhibit at the downtown YWCA chronicling the Nazi persecution of homosexuals seems to be pertinent to the current debate in the House of Bishops. Thousands of homosexuals – particularly gay men – were murdered in concentration camps between 1933 and 1945. The exhibit details how suggestive accusations and denunciations by ordinary citizens were used to persecute people the regime considered undesirable.
